- Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) June 22, 2023 - The Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinson’s is proud to announce that tickets are now on sale for the “Strike Out Parkinson’s” event which will benefit the foundation that was formed by former professional baseball player and manager, Kirk Gibson, after his diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease in 2015. This “Team23” event will also bring together a special 1984 World Series Panel which will be hosted on Sunday, August 20th from 6pm-9pm at Bowlero Lanes located at 4209 Coolidge Hwy in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Kirk Gibson spent most of his career with the Detroit Tigers, but also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Kansas City Royals and Pittsburgh Pirates. Gibson is currently the color commentator for the Detroit Tigers and special assistant to the Tigers. Gibson wore jersey #23 which was the inspiration for the formation of “Team23” within the Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinson’s. Team23 is the grassroots fundraising and volunteer team for the Foundation.
“Strike Out Parkinson’s”, will be hosted at Bowlero Lanes, which is a restored, retro-styled boutique bowling alley and cocktail lounge. The highlight of the evening will be a 1984 World Series Q&A Panel hosted by Kirk Gibson, along with former teammate Alan Trammell. In addition, it will be the coming together of “Gibby vs Goose”, with an appearance by rival San Diego Dodgers pitcher, Goose Gossage. Goose, who pitched to Kirk in Game 5 of the 1984 World Series, was instructed to walk him, but as it goes down in Detroit Tigers and MLB history, Kirk hit an infamous homerun instead!
Guests will also enjoy food, drinks, live and silent auctions, contests, bowling, and much more! All proceeds will benefit the Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinson’s.
Tickets for “Strike Out for Parkinson’s” are $250 and sponsorships start at $2,500.
