All Proceeds from Race Event to Benefit Child Life Department of St. Joseph's Children's Hospital.
- Bergen-Passaic, NJ (1888PressRelease) May 17, 2014 - For companies large and small, building camaraderie among employees and promoting fitness while lending support to a worthy cause makes good business sense. The "Corporate Challenge" at the Third Annual 4 Miler at Garret Mountain, sponsored by SaxBST, will offer companies the ideal atmosphere for friendly competition, team building and fun.
Now in its third year, the 4 Miler at Garret Mountain is adding the Corporate Challenge category based on feedback from past participants. This year's event is being held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the scenic Garret Mountain Reservation in Woodland Park, N.J. Runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels will come together to raise funds for the Child Life Department at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital.
"When we were thinking of ways to expand the reach of our 4 Miler, adding a 'Corporate Challenge' element proved ideal. It will encourage people to focus on healthy living in the months leading up to race day while supporting the critical care St. Joseph's Children's Hospital provides pediatric patients throughout the region on a daily basis," said Robert Paz, SaxBST's co-managing partner. "We're also hoping companies will have some fun with this light-hearted competition to win the 'coveted' title of fittest corporation."
The 4 Miler will feature a 4-mile run on a scenic USA Track and Field Certified (USATF) double-loop race course as well as a 1.5-mile trail walk. Kids' dashes, with distances ranging from 25 to 200 yards, will be held for youngsters ages 2 to 11 with free registration offered to former patients of St. Joseph's Children's Hospital. Race-day entertainment includes a DJ, random prize drawings, a variety of children's activities and post-race refreshments. Custom technical t-shirts will be provided to participants while supplies last. Garret Mountain Reservation, a 568-acre landmark in Woodland Park, is located at 288 Rifle Camp Road.
The winning teams and individuals will receive prizes and trophies. The Corporate Challenge package is $850 and includes five race entries and numerous branding/marketing opportunities, such as tented exhibit space on race day and inclusion of the company name on 4 Miler t-shirts. Those interested in participating in the "Corporate Challenge" should contact Danielle Atkinson at datkinson ( @ ) saxbst dot com or (973) 472-6250 for more information dot
Each year, SaxBST absorbs all expenses associated with the 4 Miler in order to donate 100 percent of the proceeds raised through sponsorships. The hospital's Child Life Department is an integral component of its care by helping to relieve the stress and anxiety of pediatric patients during hospitalizations, ambulatory procedures and medication treatments.
A variety of other sponsorship packages are also available. All packages feature a wide range of benefits, such as complimentary race entries and a host of marketing/branding opportunities.
The event, founded by one of SaxBST's predecessor firms, Sax Macy Fromm & Co., raised about $43,000 in its inaugural year for St. Joseph's Children's Hospital's Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department. In 2013, participation grew to more than 400 runners and walkers, and 40 business and individual sponsors, raising $62,000 for the hospital's Child Life Department.
