Thermo Fisher Scientific Develops an Efficient GC-MS/MS Analysis of Over 200 Pesticide Residues in Herbal Products
Thermo Fisher Scientific is pleased to proclaim a new triple quadrupole GC-MS/MS method used for the multi-residue pesticide analysis of herbal products.
- San Jose, CA (1888PressRelease) August 29, 2012 - Thermo Fisher Scientific is pleased to announce a new triple quadrupole GC-MS/MS method developed collaboratively with PhytoLab GmbH & Co KG in Germany and used for the multi-residue pesticide analysis of herbal products using accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) sample preparation with detection and quantitation by the Thermo Scientific TSQ 8000 GC-MS/MS system. Application Note 52291: Multi-Residue Pesticide Analysis in Herbal Products Using Accelerated Solvent Extraction with a Triple Quadrupole GC-MS/MS System demonstrates the use of a routinely deployed method for the low-level quantitiation of more than 200 pesticide residues in a diverse range of sample types. These include black tea, seeds such as fennel, and herbs such as sage, thyme and chamomile.
Triple quadrupole GC-MS/MS is an ideal method for the routine analysis of pesticides in complex matrix. The data acquisition using unique timed-SRM allows for the detection of a virtually unlimited number of pesticide compounds in one run without sacrificing the sensitivity for individual compounds. The system provides high sensitivity and selectivity in this routinely used method over a long period due to the high robustness inherent in the chromatographic system and ion source. This reduces the need for frequent maintenance and avoids system downtime for high sample throughput and productivity. The data acquisition using the unique timed-SRM allows for the detection of a virtually unlimited number of pesticide compounds in one run without sacrificing the high sensitivity for individual compounds.
