Dominick Miserandino, executive editor and publisher of TheCelebrityCafe.com [http://thecelebritycafe.com], was named president of the Press Club of Long Island [http://www.pcli.org] on Sunday.
Miserandino, a member of the PCLI since 2002, has previously served as board member and most recently, corresponding secretary.
He succeeds John O'Connell, Executive Editor of Herald Community Newspapers.
"This is a huge honor for me that my peers trust me with this position," said Miserandino.
The PCLI's objective is to help journalists and encourage good journalistic practices and ethics. Miserandino's objectives for the first few months as president are to increase membership, programming, and scholarship. He also wants to encourage more involvement from the board and members.
The Press Club of Long Island is a chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
Dominick Miserandino, a former Wall Street employee, founded TheCelebrityCafe.com in 1995. Considered the longest-running entertainment magazine online, TheCelebrityCafe.com reaches 4.8 million readers.
