The Writers' Workshop has recently announced that the Authonomy Live winner at their Festival of Writing event, Cicely Havely, has recently been offered representation from the literary agent Piers Blofeld at Shiel Land. The Authonomy Live 2011 winner was unanimously acclaimed by the judges at the Festival of Writing and also won the audience vote by a large margin.
Cicely Havely is reported to be delighted to sign up to the Piers Blofeld, and the agency is supposedly planning to release her novel 'Miss Vale's Special Girls' into book stores this autumn. This is the second consecutive year that a winner of Authonomy Live has gone onto secure a literary agent, as the 2010 winner, Shelley Harris, secured an agency deal with Jo Unwin at Conville and Walsh. Shelley Harris's novel 'Jubilee' is expected to be released with Weidenfeld and Nicholson in spring 2012.
Three other festival attendees have also signed up with literary agents following meetings arranged at the Festival of Writing.
Harry Bingham, the Managing Director of The Writers' Workshop, commented: "We've always wanted the Festival of Writing to be a place where we actually cemented relationships between wonderful new writers and the publishing industry. I'm delighted to see the festival go from strength to strength, and we look forward to identifying future talent and helping them step on the path to publication."
