The Workforce Development Center Presents: Succeeding After Service: A Veteran Community Resource & Job Fair

- Wilmington, NC (1888PressRelease) November 09, 2023 - The Workforce Development Center is hosting a special event honoring veterans on Monday, November 13th from 9:30 am-12:30 pm. The "Succeeding After Service: A Veteran Community Resource and Job Fair" will take place at the WCTC building and is open to veterans, active military members, families, and the general public.
This free event will offer beneficial resources for veterans while promoting understanding around mental health challenges. Attendees can expect a day focused on community, support services, and new beginnings.
Event highlights:
- Mini job fair with up to 15 area employers
- Information on training, education, vocational rehab, apprenticeships
- Veteran benefits assistance from resource partners
- Free food bags, haircuts, and professional photos
- Mobile Vet Center onsite providing counseling services
- Reentry workforce services, DWD mobile lab, welding demo
Additional workshops offered:
- "Protect Your Identity" - Learn how to safeguard against identity theft
- "How to Apply for Federal Jobs" - Tips for navigating the federal job application process
By attending the event, veterans and their families will receive support while helping to reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues. The power of unity and understanding will be front and center.
