The WeatherBug - Review from a Surfer
A farming friend of mine recommended me to download the WeatherBug app. Initially I was skeptical, my thought frame was "this is another app" "how does this app differ to other so called "weather app".
- (1888PressRelease) May 23, 2017 - Being a surfer and a traveler, and somebody who travels to surf. I thought to myself that I have nothing to lose. It would be nice to be fully informed of all weather conditions in my country and in other parts of the world.
Setting up and downloading the app was fantastic. Once I found the app from a Google search, the downloading was very quick and uncomplicated. There was no extra installations of extra software, or messages saying you don't have data or enough storage on your phone. The process from finding the app to viewing the weather conditions in my home country took at a maximum 2 minutes.
When I open my phone, weather updates flash on my phone. This app has many features which appear on any other weather app. The updates can be: the current weather conditions, temperature such as the local temperature, and the future conditions such as trending cooler. Then when I open the app to find out more about the weather conditions, I get the usual; the conditions, the temperature, current pressure, recent high/low temperatures, the wind direction, the sunset times and the sunrise times. The other features which appear on this app, and also other apps are hourly weather updates, ten day long term forecast, detailed forecasts, the option to change location and the app defaults to a nearby weather station
There were some features of this app the I haven't seen in other apps. One is the colourful illustration of the wind speed; the wind speed is illustrated on a scale, the greener the scale is, the less wind there is and the redder the scale is, the windier it is. There is also a sun positioning on the app which demonstrates the point of the day relative to sunrise and sunset. Other features would be the location of the last known lightning strike relative to my current location, uploaded photos of weather events such as floods and storms from different parts of the world and weather reports from different parts of the world.
The downfall of the app is the advertising. There has being many a time I have opened the app and I have had to navigate around the advertising. Another pitfall would be the some of the extended features that didn't work. There is also weather camera, UV readings, pollen count indicator and traffic camera live on the app but they don't work. It's most likely that I haven't figured out how to work them
My overall view is that this app is easy to use, quick and easy to install and great to navigate. This app is super user friendly.
