NEW YORK – Jan. 24, 2019:  Julian Junior Marvin, famed lead guitarist with Bob Marley & the Wailers, kicks off 2019 with a new booking agency and live shows beginning in February. After leaving a separate Wailers band in 2018 over professional and ethical differences, Junior picked up where he left off with his band of more than five years. Following his signing with Universal Attractions, the global offers began to roll in for The Wailers featuring Julian Junior Marvin.

“I am thrilled to work with UAA,” Julian Junior declared. “I made a promise to Bob to keep playing and spreading Jah message through his/our songs, at the highest standard possible, and to perform with love and respect.” “Furthermore,” he added, “to set the record straight for fans, I am no longer with the Barrett’s Wailers. They failed to keep this promise. By still using my image and likeness, after being told repeatedly to stop, they further display their unprofessionalism.”

Jeff Epstein, co-owner of Universal Attractions Agency, asserts, “UAA is excited to have signed on The Wailers featuring Julian Junior Marvin to our roster of celebrated artists. We respect Junior’s legendary status as Bob Marley’s trusted lead guitarist and predict a momentous year of shows and tours.”

Steve Einzig, Junior’s long-time New York-based manager adds, “We are excited to present this music in its proper light. With Julian Junior up front, you have the most authentic version of the band in years. His deep respect for Bob flows from every song. It’s important for people to experience the music this way so they can truly understand its power.”

Julian “Junior” Marvin was born in Kingston, Jamaica. He moved to London as a child where he immersed himself in music and theater. The young prodigy appeared in the Beatles’ film Help and performed in the musical cast of Hair. Proficient in reggae, blues, jazz, and rock, Junior played guitar with such top artists as Traffic, Fairport Convention, Steve Winwood, and Toots & the Maytals.

In 1977, invited to join Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley on the same day, Julian Junior faced a tough decision. Looking at the fact they were both Jamaican, Julian Junior chose Bob Marley. The rest is history. His first Wailers album, Exodus, was named Album of the Century by Time Magazine in 1999, and “One Love” was selected as Song of the Millennium in 2000. He continued to tour, record and collaborate with Marley until his passing in 1981. Bob had asked Julian Junior to “keep the band together,” which he did until 1997. With numerous albums and singles to his credit, Julian Junior Marvin is set to release his first 2019 single, “The Message of Love,” in March, followed by an album of the same name.
