The South Metro Denver Chamber is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2017 Legislator of the Year Awards.
- Denver, CO (1888PressRelease) October 20, 2017 - Centennial, Colorado – The awards were presented to Senator Jack Tate, representing Colorado State Senate District 27, and Representative Cole Wist, representing Colorado House of Representatives District 37. Both recipients were participating in a state budget panel discussion at the South Metro Denver Chamber; fellow Senator Cheri Jahn and Representatives Leslie Herod and Bob Rankin also participated in the panel.
“Both (Senator Tate and Representative Wist) are very likeable, smart, thoughtful, and take a no-nonsense approach at the Capitol,” said Michele McKinney, Chair of the South Metro Denver Chamber Board of Directors and Assistant Vice President for External Affairs and Advocacy for the University of Colorado.
“Senator Tate and Representative Wist both share their time with chamber members, and have a way of removing the political rhetoric when talking about issues important to the chamber and the business community,” said South Metro Denver Chamber President Robert Golden.
Recipients were selected by the South Metro Denver Chamber’s Legislative Action Committee, who voted for the elected representatives who showed the highest level of support and leadership for bills and policy that the chamber supported, and were chamber priorities for the 2017 legislative session.
