  • Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease) October 04, 2007 - The South Camden Theatre Company, a not-for-profit theatre located in Camden, New Jersey, announces the first play of its third season. “Fortune Cookies” a new play about dreams, written by Joseph M. Paprzycki and directed by Celeste Bonfanti will be performed from October 19th – November 4th, 2007. Performances will be Friday and Saturday evenings at 8PM and Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 1:30 PM.

    “Fortune Cookies”, is set in a Chinese restaurant in Camden in 1997 and shows what happens when four long time friends “live each others dreams at their monthly dinner” says author Joseph M. Paprzycki; “showing how fate can intervene when they least expect it, this is a play about dreams and the power of friendship” Paprzycki describes, “Sometimes what we want in life is not what is wanted for us.”

    Gloucester City New Jersey resident Joseph M. Paprzycki is the author of 40 plays and 4 screenplays including “Last Rites”, produced in New York City and Camden “Tennessee’s Final Curtain” produced in New York City in 2000 and “Understudies”, produced in Philadelphia in 1997. Fourteen of his one-act plays have been produced in New York City and Philadelphia. Paprzycki teaches playwriting at Temple University, LaSalle University and Rosemont College and recently wrote an upcoming column scheduled to appear in the November 2007 issue of New Jersey Monthly magazine.

    The South Camden Theatre Company will be producing three additional productions this season: “Marx in Soho” by Howard Zinn, starring Bob Weick, “That Championship Season” by Jason Miller and “The Old Settler” by John Henry Redwood. The company plans to move into the new 99 seat Waterfront South Theatre next season which is being built at the corner of 4th and Jasper Streets in Camden, New Jersey; the former home of Walt’s Café a bar owned by Paprzycki’s grandparents and the setting for his first play, “Last Rites”.

    All performances are currently held on stage in the basement of Sacred Heart Church at Broadway and Ferry Avenue in Camden New Jersey where free parking is available.
