Enrollment into the "Short Film & Video Clip Roat To Wellness 2010" Competition is now open. The initiative aims to promote short films and video clips inspired by the discovery of local landscape. Participation is open to all, free of charge and material can be sent from the 3rd of July to the 15th of November. The competition is organized, in cooperation with the 2010 Edition of the Chiara Prize, by "Road to Wellness - A Landscape for Wellbeing", an Italo-Swiss collaborative project for the sustainable development of cross-border tourism.
The competition is a great chance for professionals and amateurs alike to put their talent to the test. Material sent in should give a fresh and creative reading of the author's landscape's natural beauty, cultural heritage or eno-gastronomical bounty.
The competition is divided in two central themes. Participants may choose one or both subjects for their work:
1. "The landscape in the works of Piero Chiara": a free interpretation of the ideas of Piero Chiara in relation to the landscape.
2. "The bicycle and 'soft mobility'": images and words to express the ideals and perspectives represented by "soft mobility" and "eco-tourism", as well as a rediscovery of the landscape in cultural, environmental and eno-gastronomical terms, through the use of the bicycle.
Works may fall into two sections: the first, "Talent 2010", includes works lasting from 7 to 11 minutes, which must be filmed in the area covered by the Road to Wellness project (Varese and its Province, the Mendrisiotto and the Lower Ceresio districts). The second, "Open Contest Video clip 2010", will include works lasting a maximum of 3 minutes which may be filmed in the area covered by the Road to Wellness project or anywhere else in the world.
To captivate the jury with innovative and high-quality entries, participants are invited to seek out the unexpected and the unusual, and to develope the assigned topics creatively. Both in filming and in editing, all languages and technologies are allowed - and indeed encouraged - including digital, mixed-medium, animation, video-graphics, slow-motion, mobile video and so on.
These are the basic elements of the competition: love for the landscape, emphasis on personal creativity and an open invitation to use all the technological resources available.
Entries are accepted from July the 3rd, 2010 to the final date and deadline for reception of material, midnight, November the 15th, 2010. Each participant may send in up to a total of four works (which must have been filmed after January 1st, 2008, but may have been presented at other events/festivals/competitions as well). Entries may be submitted at different times within the given deadline.
Prizes for the Talent 2010 Section will be awarded by expert judges, while the winner of the Open Contest Video Clip 2010 will be selected by combining the jury's votes with the results of an online voting contest. The organizers reserve the right to add special awards to the aforementioned prizes.
