Cabaret Voltaire presents the very timely event "Secret Codes + Hidden Message of Christmas" and will be featuring the documentary film "The Pharmacratic Inquisition" directed by Jan Irvin (with Mr. Irvin in attendance). The film will examine the Astrological interrelationship between the story of Jesus Christ and Winter Solstice (Dec. 21st) ,the secret symbolism that can be found in the Catholic Church and the connection between St. Nick and Psychedelia.
Much of the material in the film rests upon the work of John Allegro, who was one of the original scholars chosen to translate the Dead Sea Scrolls, the ancient Christian texts discovered in Qumram near the Dead Sea in the 1950's. Allegro's findings produced explosive radical claims that Jesus was a psychoactive mushroom and Allegro argued that the mythology and symbolism surrounding the Christ figure all point to the Amanita muscaria mushroom, the iconic red and white mushroom so common in Christmas symbolism and imagery.
Dec. 17th event emcee will be the queen of late-night So-Cal alternative theories, radio host Eben Rey.
