The Sculpture Company London re-brands as Nelson & Forbes
The Sculpture Company, London has recently re-branded and will now be known as Nelson & Forbes Sculpture Company.
- (1888PressRelease) September 01, 2011 - The company was founded in 2009 by Debbie Foster, the daughter of a portrait sculptor, with a vision to create exquisite bronze sculpture, designed and manufactured entirely in the UK using traditional craftsmanship techniques that span centuries.
Formerly named The Sculpture Company London they have recently re-branded and will now be known as Nelson & Forbes Sculpture Company.
The name change has been borne out of a desire to protect the artists that work with the company; by trade marking the company name the artists' work is protected from imitation. The latest 2011/12 collection showcases 36 exclusive pieces by Jonathan Sanders and Sue Maclaurin, inspired by British and African wildlife and perfectly capturing the personality and physical presence of each animal featured.
Every piece created by Nelson & Forbes is created using the ancient art of lost wax casting, which can be traced back over 6000 years ago and remains largely unchanged from its original form. It is the same process that was used to create famous sculptures across the globe including the Trafalgar Square Lions and the doors of the Bank of England. This process allows every intricate detail of a sculptor's original but often fragile work to be perfectly recreated in bronze, ensure that their sculpture will last a lifetime.
Deborah comments, "The name change comes at a time when we are planning expansion of the company. We wanted to choose a name that both protects ours and our artists' intellectual property; Nelson & Forbes also resonates personally with me, as both names have been 'borrowed' from my father and uncle, both of whom have always been incredibly supportive of the company."
Now with a new company name, Nelson & Forbes is set for a period of growth. The company has recently expanded into new premises, new marketing initiatives are planned and a new website that sells direct to consumers will launch on 1st September.
Deborah continues: "In an era where there has been a huge trend for low cost, disposable products, we are seeing a resurgence of customers wanting to invest in a piece that has been lovingly and painstakingly made and is of the highest quality. We want to make our art available to collectors nationwide and therefore will sell directly to customers via the website. Of course, nothing can replace the feel of a piece of bronze sculpture in our customers' hands, so we will continue to support our galleries and retail partners to the highest level."
Nelson & Forbes supports British craftsmanship. Every piece is cast by hand in an English foundry before being numbered as one of a Limited Edition. The pieces come packaged in handmade boxes, made using cutting machines dating back to the 19th Century and the Certificates of Authenticity are individually printed by hand in Hampshire from an original copperplate engraving.
