A recent trial by Sunderland City Hospital Trust found that Breastlight detected 12 out of 18 malignant tumours, ranging in size from 7mm to 2cm, including ones that went undetected during a physical examination.

Mr Obi Iwuchukwu, Consultant Breast Surgeon, Sunderland City Hospital said: "It appears that Breastlight is effective in the detection of malignant tumours and in some cases can differentiate between malignant and benign disease.
