This outstanding event, which is fun for the whole family, will feature a wide array of fun activities for the whole family!
The community is invited to attend the very special 76th Annual Monterey County Fair Kick Off BBQ on Saturday, August 4th at 5:00 PM during the Monterey National Horse Show. There will be a delicious BBQ Steak Dinner with all of the trimmings, a no host bar, and a silent and live auction. The cost is $20 for adults, children 12 and under are $10 and kids 5 and under are free. Tickets are now available at www.montereycountyfair.com/horse-show.

The Monterey National Horse Show kicks off with a Monterey County Fair Heritage Foundation Golf Tournament Fundraiser to benefit the Monterey County Fair Heritage Foundation (a 501c3 non-profit organization) that supports the functions of the Monterey County Fair, including raising funds through grants and donations. The Heritage Foundation Golf Tournament will be held at Laguna Seca Golf Ranch, 10520 York Road in Monterey, on Thursday, August 2nd. Registration and check in is at 11:00 AM, followed by lunch at Noon. The Shotgun Start is at 1:00 PM and dinner is at 6:00 PM. There will be a Hole in One contest to win a vehicle from Chevrolet of Watsonville. Many levels of Golf Tournament Sponsorships are currently available. From Thursday, August 2nd - 5th, 2012, there will be many free horse show events, jackpot roping, barrel racing and Ranch National Team Sorting at the Pattee Arena at the Monterey County Fairgrounds. On Thursday, August 2nd from 2 PM - 5 PM, the Ranch Sorting National Championships Clinic will be held. On Saturday, August 4th, there will be a delicious Pancake Breakfast ($5 per person) at 9 AM followed by an exciting Cattle Drive down the Fairgrounds Midway. There will also be Escobar Memorial Team Roping that day followed by the Fair Kick Off Barbecue at 5:00 PM. In addition, there will be the crowning of the Miss Monterey National Horse Show on Saturday evening, August 4th following the Fair Kick Off Dinner with music and dancing.

On Sunday, August 5th, there will be the Horsemen's Association Region 6 Horse Show featuring Ranch Versatility and the 4-H/FFA Horse Show between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM in the Pattee Arena.
Used with permission of the Jo Mora Trust, the poster artwork for the Monterey National Horse Show is by Jo Mora from his beautifully illustrated book that describes the world of the American Cowboy, Saddle Dust and Trail Leather. The poster uses the eye-catching black and white pen and ink Western-themed image on the dedication page and depicts Mora's son, Joey, sitting astride his horse named "Huerita", with the Mora family dogs on the ground, "Smoke" on the left and "Zack" on the right.
