The Music Mentor TV To Launch New Webisode, "MEET NICOLE BERKE"
Denise Marsa Productions, LLC teamed up with Joseph Minasi Films to create The Music Mentor, an unscripted, web series dedicated to revealing the nuts-and-bolts of what it's really like to be an indie artist in today's saturated music industry.
- (1888PressRelease) January 28, 2011 - We listen to the radio, feeling the beat and passion from the artists but do we give true consideration to how that artist or band got on the radio in the first place? What was it like trying to find a legitimate agent, manager and publicist who would invest the time or resources in your music? What about finding a producer or recording the same song over and over again until you get the sound just right? How do these bands go about getting gigs at the top NYC or LA venues, the IZOD Center, The University of Virginia or The PNC Bank Center of the Arts? That's why Denise Marsa Productions, LLC teamed up with Joseph Minasi Films to create The Music Mentor, an unscripted, web series dedicated to revealing the nuts-and-bolts of what it's really like to be an indie artist in today's saturated music industry. With the six minute and change pilot synopsis video bringing in over 1,000 channel views on their www.youtube.com/TheMusicMentorTV channel after only two months, the unscripted documentary TV series is on its way.
The first episode, "MEET NICOLE BERKE" which is in two parts due to the YouTube time length constraints, is dedicated to Nicole Berke, a young up-and-coming indie artist singer/songwriter/pianist (Boston to Portland transplant) who is starting to make waves in the news with her debut EP Frondescence, her live performances and her recent west coast regional tour in the summer of 2010 with Kiernan McMullen. Viewers can watch this newest Portland, Oregon native work with her mentor and KeyMedia Group / Public Relations founder Denise Marsa as they work together to develop Berke's career both musically and professionally. The goal is to share Berke's music, a unique blend of soul, pop and R & B with audiences as they watch the indie artist in concert and behind the scenes during her recent New York City performance at Googie's Lounge on December 21, 2010.
Berke graduated with a BA in Social Psychology from the University of Massachusetts in Boston and attended Portland State University her last year of school through the National Student Exchange program. With a 4.0 GPA her final year in school, it was not easy to put her music on hold for her studies but she did and Berke is now teaching at a music school in Portland, while pursuing her music career. Berke explains, "It's really difficult being an independent artist, there are so many of us out there now and there are so many choices and so much to learn. It's so important to have someone like Denise Marsa in my corner, helping, mentoring and guiding me. It has made a huge difference. I also love teaching so I couldn't ask for a better sense of balance."
Marsa and Minasi are very excited about their recent collaborations and there is lots of interest in the project brewing. They plan on putting together their next episode focusing on another of Marsa's client's Rachel Millman, New Jersey indie artist on the rise.
