The Mississauga Food Bank Holiday Drive Exceeds Food and Fundraising Goals
The Mississauga Food Bank is pleased to announce the results of their Holiday Food & Fundraising Drive. The six-week drive collected $286,297 and 253,481 lbs. of food, beating its goal of $250,000 and 175,000 lbs. of food. This is thanks in large part to the tireless efforts made by the Mississauga community.
- (1888PressRelease) January 09, 2013 - From November 15 - December 31 individuals, families, schools and corporations worked to raise money and food in support of the 65,000 clients that rely on The Mississauga Food Bank each month.
Thanks to these efforts, the food bank has adequate food and funds to support the over 150 food programs that distribute food in neighbourhoods across Mississauga.
According to Chris Hatch, Executive Director of The Mississauga Food Bank, "The holiday drive is critical to the food bank. We rely on the donations made during this time to ensure our clients get the nutritious food that they need through the rest of the year.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters during the holiday season, hungry families, individuals and seniors across Mississauga will be able to access the food they desperately need in the coming months."
