THE MENDOZA LINE Released On VOD and DVD
Film Focuses On Hardships Of Minor League Baseball And Undocumented Latinos.
- (1888PressRelease) April 21, 2015 - With no immigration reform legislation on the horizon and the opening of a new baseball season, the new feature length baseball themed drama THE MENDOZA LINE, NOW AVAILABLE FOR ON-LINE RENTAL OR PURCHASE is as relevant as ever.
Ricardo Perez (Juan Carlos Arenas) is a low round draft pick struggling through his third year in A-ball as a back-up catcher, barely hitting above The Mendoza Line (.200). His marriage is on the rocks and since he was brought to the United States as a child, his status as an undocumented immigrant is a constant weight on his young shoulders.
The Mendoza Line takes place in the span of a few days after the June draft when a handful of players will be released to make way for the newest prospects. This is not a fake baseball movie with a predictable melodramatic "big game" ending. It is the dramatic and comedic reality of minor league baseball where more than just wins and losses are at stake. It not only gives us an inside look at life in the lower minor leagues, but explores social issues that go beyond baseball. In sports, personal relationships collide with the harsh business realities of, "What have you done for me lately?"
REVIEWERS AND JOURNALISTS CAN PREVIEW THE MOVIE ON-LINE BY REQUEST.
Writer/Director Nathan Kaufman and key cast members are available for media interviews.
