The Mavericks Accordionist Michael Guerra playing SXSW
San Antonio based Michael Guerra, former Texas Tornado now a member of the Grammy Award Winning Alt-Country band The Mavericks, as well as his own new band The Nights Calling, will be playing for the second consecutive year at a SXSW Event.
- (1888PressRelease) March 10, 2017 - MAVERICK IN TEXAS, GUERRA PLAYS SXSW : After consecutive non-stop years of touring with The Mavericks, accordion/bajo sexto player Michael Guerra has been around the world with one of the hottest bands of the past four years and now comes back home to play a nearly yearly event, SXSW with his newest incarnation, The Nights Calling and his showcase will be on March 16th, from 4-5 at OPA Coffee and Wine Bar, 2050 S. Lamar Blvd, Austin Texas.
Guerra will tour new music from his upcoming second release which is still unnamed. His first release, as The Michael Guerra Band, came out in 2012 and in 2013 earned Band of the Year honors from FOX Music USA. He has managed to record and produce his new record in between time with the Mavericks over the last two years and has ingested the Malo producing ear as well as a knack for how to get the most out your studio time.
Guerra's second release was again produced and recorded at the Grammy Award winning Blue Cat Studios located in the Historic King William District of San Antonio and is expected to be released by late Spring, early summer.
In the years since his arrival to Texas, Guerra has continued to build his reputation as one of the most talented accordionist/musicians in the world.
