Recently, following several other SEC resolutions in the life sciences sector, the SEC has announced its settlement with AstraZeneca PLC. The company's Chinese and Russian subsidiaries were alleged to have violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act's (FCPA) internal controls and recordkeeping requirements, resulting to AstraZeneca's payment of $4,325,000 in profit disgorgement, $822,000 in prejudgment interest and $375,000 for civil penalty.
