The iRBeacon is the excuse to ditch all remotes - now on Kickstarter
After its successful funding on another crowdfunding site, today the iRBeacon team started their project on Kickstarter for the second batch of delivery. The first 50 pledges came in less than 4 hours. Take a look: http://kck.st/1BBpCcc .
- (1888PressRelease) February 27, 2015 - The iRBeacon's claim is ambitious. The tiny, yet powerful smart device aims to replace any remote - anywhere.
The iRBeacon started its story on Indiegogo, back in August, 2014. Backed by almost 900 people, the project was quite successful, and the team aimed to deliver the more than 2000 iRBeacons early this year. With a little delay, that is part of almost all crowdfunding projects, the shipping will start in March.
Why the success?
With the useful combination of infrared and Bluetooth Low Energy technology, the iRBeacon is able to control almost any device that is normally operated with an IR remote. That includes televisions, air conditioning units, ceiling fans, DV or Blu-ray players and of course cameras and DSLRs. Running on iOS and Android, the iRBeacon apps are capable of so much more than an everyday remote controller. The apps are compatible with iPhone 4s & later, iPad 3rd Generation & later, and Android 4.3 & later devices with Bluetooth 4.0.
Now that the initial batch and its development nearing its end, the team set out to tackle the challenge of larger scale manufacturing, and they have chosen Kickstarter to do so. As it is probably the biggest crowdfunding website in the world, the campaign took off as soon as it started and received the first 50 pledges in less than 4 hours.
The iRBeacon campaign is running on Kickstarter for 50 days, be sure to take a look at http://kck.st/1BBpCcc
