The I Love Music Foundation is hosting a benefit concert from 3pm to 5pm on June 4, 2011 at the Jacksonville Landing
Concert proceeds go to the I Love Music Foundation, which advocates music education in public schools.
- (1888PressRelease) May 14, 2011 - Headlined by recording artist Jonra, who is currently touring with American Idol winner Fantasia, the event features 10 additional acts, including local high school bands as well as pro-music education testimonies from politicians, business leaders, artists, teachers and students.
The event will be a celebration of all that music education has to offer and spotlight the need for additional attention to the importance of having music programs in public schools.
"Evidence shows that participation in school music programs supports higher achievement in reading and math… never in my 39 year career have the challenges to developing and maintaining high level public school music programs been greater. The need for creative ways to raise money to support our music programs is critical to our success. This [organization] is one of the most creative I have encountered to meet these challenges," says Frank Williams, Hall of Fame Boca Ciega band director.
