The Hunger Games' Lenny Kravitz, Matt Damon, and Conya Doss have lots to say about World Water Day
Celebrities using their status to raise awareness about the Global Water Crisis.
- (1888PressRelease) March 23, 2012 - Washington, DC - These Megastars are using their celebrity status to raise awareness. Nearly one billion people - about one in eight - lack access to clean water. More than twice that many - 2.5 billion people - don't have access to a toilet! As a result:
• 3.575 million people die each year from water-related disease.
• 43% of water-related deaths are due to diarrhea.
• 84% of water-related deaths are in children ages 0 - 14.
• 98% of water-related deaths occur in the developing world.
The water and sanitation crisis claims more lives through disease than any war claims through guns. At any given time, half of the world's hospital beds are occupied by patients suffering from a water-related disease. Superstar Rocker Lenny Kravitz of "The Hunger Games", set to hit theaters this week, is asking his fans to support the Tap Water Project and donate ONE DOLLAR! It's simple: just donate a buck when asking for a glass of tap water and UNICEF provides 40 kids with clean water for a day -- or one child for 40 days. ONE dollar goes far. Megastar Matt Damon and co-Founder of Water.org a.k.a "The Water Warrior", hopes to bring real solutions to the global crisis through his non-profit which actively raises awareness and encourages people to raise funds and help.
Multi-Award Winning Artist, Conya Doss, recently used her voice to raise awareness in a short film submitted to the Annual Water Film Festival by ConnectingYOUto. com. Her hit song ""Doesn't have to be this way" from her fifth album,"Blu Transition", helps emphasize the short film's message regarding the global crisis.
Billboard Magazine,Vibe Magazine, USA Today, and BET.com have all given nods to Doss. This artist, mother, and philanthropist cites Classical, Blues, R&B, and Rock s which explains the brilliance in her seamless creation of heart-and-soul-tugging music. Her sixth album,"Pocket Full of Purpose" highlights the aforementioned and her fans eagerly await its April release. With beauty, grace, and confidence, the poised songstress has composed an 11-song compilation of warm and personal tracks that are full of soul with huge melodies. The skillful arrangement of horns, strings, and piano riffs suit her y crafted lyrics about love, life and pursuing one's dreams. The pursuit of dreams can remain elusive to the billions affected by the GlobalWater Crisis and Conya Doss wants to help change that through her support."It's been a challenge trying to effectively balance all of these things, but I've been patient with myself", explains the songbird. All of Doss' album titles are authentically steeped in the spirit of growth and change and'Pocketful of Purpose" is no different. "Every aspect of this personal body of work has a purpose that I hope people will embrace and gain something meaningful from."
To raise awareness for this global crisis, Doss joins forces with ConnectingYOUto (CYT), an integrated public communications m which provides marketing, media relations, and event planning for businesses, organizations, and individuals.
