- San Jose, CA (1888PressRelease) October 31, 2011 - The Social Film Festival & Institute (SCFFI) is hosting "The Global Water Crisis: Symposium & Reception" on November 5, 2011 in Los Altos Hills, CA.
Hosted in partnership with the World Bank, Woodside Capital Partners, the San Francisco Green Film Festival and Blue Planet Network, "The Global Water Crisis" features non-profit leaders, media professionals, social entrepreneurs, and corporate decision makers on the global water crisis and the power of media to drive social change.
Souléymane Sy Savané, breakthrough actor, athlete, and model born in Ivory Coast, West Africa, will be the event emcee.
The Social Change Film Festival's symposium aims to create spaces for dialogue, networking, and education around the environmental and humanitarian dimensions of the global water crisis. The symposium will also create opportunities for investors to meet organizations and individuals working on innovative solutions
As part of the SCFFI's Water Awareness Campaign, they will launch of two youth video contests, "Drop by Drop" and "Water Through Our Eyes," which encourage young filmmakers to use the transformative power of film to draw attention to water-related challenges. A youth filmmaking workshop will coincide with the symposium and reception.
The evening reception is a fundraiser for the Social Change Film Festival & Institute, which will be held in New Orleans April 18-22, 2012 on the theme of "water."
The Global Water Crisis will feature the photography exhibit "The Power of Clean Water to Transform Lives," featuring the work of Rudi Dundas, award-winning photographer, and her partner, Chris Majors.
