The Genron NPO English Web site is launched
With effect from Dec. 1, The Genron NPO's English Web site has been officially launched to transmit information about Japan's policy challenges, domestic and external, to the world.
- (1888PressRelease) December 11, 2010 - The Genron NPO, an independent, not-for-profit think tank based in Tokyo, aims to internationalize debate through the release of information on its proposals and discussions regarding the desired manner of Japan's politics, external policies and civil society, such as the evaluation reports of the political parties' "manifesto" policy pledges, the documents related to the Japan-China Forum, and the compilation of the evaluation standards for the "Excellent" NPOs.
There has been strong foreign interest in The Genron NPO's activities - particularly the Tokyo-Beijing Forum, which has been held annually since 2005. This forum has attracted the attention of government organizations and research institutes in Europe and the United States. The annual Japan-China public opinion surveys, carried out in hand with the forum, have also been widely reported by both the local and international media, and received enquiries from many organizations abroad.
When the 6th Tokyo-Beijing Forum was convened in Tokyo in late August this year, the English version of the annual public opinion survey was uploaded onto our Web site. On the occasion of launching the English Web site, we also have uploaded the summary translation of the proceeds of the Forum onto the site. In view of the tense relations between Japan and China recently, we hope that this information and proposals will be of value to the public.
We are poised to release, through the new English Web site, relevant and timely contents, such as our Representative Kudo's Blogs, the evaluation reports of the Kan Administration, topics related to "Excellent NPOs, as well as reports of Representative Kudo's planned visit to China. In view of the Genron NPO's aims of internationalizing debate, we are also considering setting up an online forum for users overseas to post their comments and opinions.
