The Freelancer Club to launch NoFreeWork campaign with IPSE
The Freelancer Club announces NoFreeWork campaign to tackle practice of unpaid work offers to UK freelancers.
- (1888PressRelease) October 17, 2015 - The Freelancer Club is launching its #NoFreeWork campaign backed by IPSE on October 16th to combat the exploitation of freelancers working on unpaid projects for the monetary gain of commercial businesses. Companies are asking creative freelancers in many sectors most notably fashion, music and film to give up their valuable work for no pay. While these companies profit from freelance services, the freelancer is repaid with empty promises of potential paid work in the future, exposure or prestige.
Having helped over 20,000 creative freelancers develop their freelance businesses, The Freelancer Club has become the UK's premier destination for creative professionals seeking support in the freelance industry.
Matt Dowling, co-founder of The Freelancer Club, launched the platform with Nina Malone after a company exploited his own photographic services resulting in thousands of pounds worth of loss. Matt was determined to bring together a community of likeminded people who could find paid work and receive proper compensation for their efforts.
"Too many companies offer exposure for freelance work but really they are just getting employees for nothing. This needs to change." Ross Emerick, Freelance professional.
To support the campaign and create awareness of this plight, freelancers and employers can add their name to the official Code of Conduct. In addition to the agreeing to the Code of Conduct, one can download the #NOFREEWORK Pack which includes a #NOFREEWORK icon to add to their website as well as banner jpgs for their social media platforms. Those who adorn an icon or banner will not only show an intent to fight for freelancer justice but also be supported by a community who believe in equality and the moral rights of creative freelancers.
