The Fordham International Law Journal Names O'Connor Award Recipient
Alexandra Paslawsky, a second-year student at the Fordham Law School, has received the William M. O'Connor Award for outstanding writing from the Fordham International Law Journal.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) March 25, 2012 - Alexandra Paslawsky, a second-year student at the Fordham Law School, has received the William M. O'Connor Award for outstanding writing from the Fordham International Law Journal. The award, given annually since 1987, was announced by Mr. O'Connor at the Journal's 35th Anniversary event in New York City on Thursday evening, March 22.
Ms. Paslawsky's article, "Power to the People: The Growth of Social Media Norms and Government Attempts at Regulation" outlines the rise of social media and the struggles of some international governments in responding to the Internet's continued growth as a democratic forum of ideas and expression.
Ms. Paslawsky currently serves as a litigation paralegal for Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, and is a former Judicial Intern for the Hon. Eileen Bransten of the New York State Supreme Court.
Mr. O'Connor is a Partner in the New York office of the law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP and is a nationally recognized leader in the special servicing of commercial mortgage backed securities and related aspects of loan workouts. He obtained his law degree from the Fordham Law School in 1980, and served as articles and commentary editor of the Fordham International Law Journal and a member of the Jessup International Moot Court Team. He earned his undergraduate degree from Fordham University in 1977.
