The Estate of Freddie Joe Steinmark and Nine Layer Productions to Make a Feature Film of the Life of Freddie Joe Steinmark
The Estate of Freddie Joe Steinmark and the Steinmark Family Sign With Nine Layer Productions to Make a Feature Film of the Life of Freddie Joe and his Battle with Cancer.
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) June 06, 2012 - The Steinmark Family and the Estate of Freddie Joe Steinmark, through its Legal Counsel, Thomas J. Crane, signed an agreement today with Nine Layer Productions for the making of a feature film depicting the life of Freddie Joe Steinmark, starting Safety for the 1969 National Football Champions University of Texas Longhorns, who waged a courageous fight against Cancer and its savage odds.
A remarkable, inspiring individual and Academic All-Southwest Conference Athlete playing under legendary Coach Darrell Royal at the University of Texas, Freddie Joe Steinmark was diagnosed with Cancer immediately following his stalwart performance in the renowned December 1969 "Game of the Century" between the Texas Longhorns and the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Nine Layer Productions is led by Alyer J. Breau and Jeannine Hamaoui, formerly of William Morris Endeavor and Universal Pictures respectively. Together Breau and Hamaoui bring over 30 years of entertainment experience, passion and commitment to this project. Dedicated to quality character-driven stories with timeless themes, Nine Layer Productions has teamed up with screenwriter Bower Yousse to bring to the big screen the inspirational story and indomitable spirit of Freddie Joe in the face of life's greatest challenge.
"As a teammate of Freddie Joe's for many years prior to college, and also having been coached by Freddie Joe's Father, Fred Steinmark, Bower is uniquely positioned to assemble this remarkable story of Freddie's courageous fight which, as the Dedication to Freddie at UT so appropriately states, '…transcended the locker room, the playing field, the campus, the nation itself,'" said Alyer Breau.
While the events of Freddie's life have been presented in other projects, this is the long-awaited authorized project telling Freddie Joe's story. "Nine Layer productions is honored to have been chosen to produce this feature film and is exceptionally proud to have been entrusted with the great responsibility of upholding Freddie's legacy," said Jeannine Hamaoui.
With a clear vision of truthfully and accurately portraying the faith, determination, bravery, and inspiration of Freddie Joe and the Steinmark Family, Nine Layer Productions will have unprecedented access to the Family's archives, photos, letters, recollections, and memorabilia that magically capture the full essence of Freddie, even when facing great hardship.
So compelling is the struggle and passion of Freddie Joe, the University of Texas has named its famed Scoreboard at Texas Memorial Stadium after him, and tradition dictates that while entering the field to every game, home and away, the UT Football Players touch, Hook 'em Horns style, a picture of Freddie Joe mounted at the entrance of the tunnel to the field or, at away games, on the Visitors locker room door. The University of Texas is the only Division 1-A football program in the country that honors one of its own players in this manner.
"To the University of Texas, Freddie Joe symbolizes the heart of UT, and we honor that sentiment at every home game with video footage of Freddie during the playing of 'The Eyes of Texas.' It will be very exciting for UT to participate in the making of this dynamic film," said UT Director of Men's & Women's Athletics External Services, Christine Plonsky.
Today, June 6th, is the 41st anniversary of Freddie Joe's death, at 10PM, and fittingly marks the commencement of this film project that will work to encapsulate the struggle, honor, faith, and integrity that is the legacy of Freddie Joe.
