The Endleaves is a punk blues rock band fronted by Shaneil Devaser from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, currently comprising of Riz Rashid on lead guitar, Jeremiah Abraham on bass and Harvey Chamberlain on drums.

Often likened to the Foo Fighters and Oasis, The Endleaves play tunes heavily influenced by the 90s, with an injection of folky flair. It's all about wailing vocals, screaming guitars, groovy bass lines and thumping drums. Think: loud.

THE BEGINNING
The band is the brain child of Devaser, and was initiated after he had called time with his previous band, Crossing Boundaries.

"I think it was around Christmas in 2012. I had recorded two songs at home, High and Just Dream On; one that I'd worked with my old band, and one new one I wrote after catching a Cats in Love gig. I wanted to put them out there without the hassle of the studio. I wanted it to be simple."

"I also needed a band name, because my name was a mouthful. I stuck my name in a Scrabble helper, and the word "Endleaves" caught my eye. I checked the Internet, and no other band was called that. So I named the band as such."

THE DEBUT AND RIVER ROCK
The Endleaves originally came into existence on April 20th, 2013 at Devaser's solo EP launch at Merdekarya. Aside from Rashid, Kristopher Chong (Armon, Sons Of The Soil) played the bass guitar and Rashaad Ali (Crossing Boundaries, Skits) was on the drums.

The band gigged extensively throughout 2013, playing at festivals and venues such as Fete de la Musique, Tres Fest, the Island Music Festival, IndiePG, Rockafellas, BullsEye and The Canteen at Chinahouse.

Towards the end of 2013, The Endleaves engaged Pulse Soundworks to record its debut album, done over nine days, mastered in the USA and subsequently released on January 31st, 2014.

The band continued touring, this time even taking the acoustic route to Sabah as a 2-piece, with a few shows in the United States, Australia and Japan to gain a following abroad. It was during this time that Zack Yusof approached Devaser to play bass for the Mystery Tapes.

During this time, the band started production on its second record, River Rock. Upon the release of River Rock, the band's lineup changed, with Chong and Ali leaving their bass and percussion stations respectively.

For the better part of 2016, Devaser returned to Sabah to write more music, while Rashid regularly played for Sons of the Soil at Merdekarya every Friday night. Eventually, Devaser focused on breaking new ground by starting up open mic sessions across Malaysia, with the aim of providing a platform for indie artists to shine. While Kota Kinabalu, Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur and George Town benefited from Devaser's hand in its open mics, he was still set on promoting River Rock and also searching for an elusive rhythm section.

Upon chance, he met Cheryl Yesudas and Jerry Lim, and recruited the bassist and drummer to tour as a three-piece band for numerous gigs across the country.

Nearing the end of 2016, Devaser decided to release an EP with Yesudas and Lim, dubbing it the Cherry EP as a document of 2016. Bringing things full circle, the Cherry EP is being recorded at home, just like the original High and Just Dream On recordings. Yesudas and Lim serve as producer and engineer on the EP.

The Cherry EP is set for release on Thanksgiving 2016, comprising of five tracks written in 2016, representing the band's main release of the year before proceeding with its new lineup.

The Endleaves' Cherry EP will be launched in Petaling Jaya at Home & Away SS2 on November 27th, in George Town at The Canteen on December 11th, and in Kota Kinabalu at Biru Biru on December 18th.
