  • Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) September 01, 2011 - Recently, the Colored Rocks Foundation launched the Colored Rocks Prize to address the unacceptably low high school graduation rates in Georgia among youth distinguished as young men of color. This impressive project of the foundation was created to support and motivate outstanding young men of color to finish their high school degree and make use of their talent to return something remarkable to their society. The foundation is on a mission to identify, recognize and reward every deserving "colored rock".

    To spread the word about this ambitious project, Cheryl Dukes, Executive Director of the Colored Rocks Foundation is scheduled to come into view on Focus Atlanta, this coming Sunday, September 4 at noon EST to explain the mission and vision behind the Colored Rocks Prize Competition. The show airs locally on the CBS local Atlanta affiliate, The CW 69 (WUPA).

    Governed by the Colored Rocks Foundation, the prizes from this competition will be given to 15 deserving students who have exhibited outstanding content on a written essay, completed their plan for a momentous community mission and successfully finished high school. Each prize includes a cash reward, recognition as a prize recipient and one of the coveted 'colored rocks'. Prizes are given directly to the awardees who may use their cash award for whatever intentions they prefer.
    Young men of color attending high school in Georgia who believe they are 'Colored Rocks' may enter the competition at http://www.coloredrocks.org . All applicants must be in the class of 2012.
