The CIHL Takes to the Ice for the Second Week of Elite Ice Hockey Action
The second week of CIHL elite ice hockey concluded with a pair of highly competitive match up's this past Saturday at Mega Ice in Kowloon Bay. Game one was a high scoring contest between the Quam Hong Kong Tycoons and the Galaxy Macau Aces.
- (1888PressRelease) October 17, 2014 - While the second game of the night saw outstanding goal tending performances by both Sean Ellison and Jasen Awalt as the South China Sharks behind Jordan So's overtime goal out lasted the defending champion AsiaXPAT Kowloon Warriors.
In the first match up of the nights CIHL double-header the Quam Hong Kong Tycoons, behind a five-goal performance by forward Kory Falite, defeat the Galaxy Macau Aces by the score of 7-3. The Aces kept the game close until the third period until the Tycoons exploded for three goals, affectively sealing their first victory of the season.
The second game showcased an amazing come back by the South China Sharks over the AsiaXPAT Kowloon Warriors. The Sharks, down all game, managed to net the game-tying goal with only two seconds left in the final period pushing the game into overtime. After trading chances in overtime the Sharks finally broke through when forward Jordan So took a pass and beat goaltender Jasen Awalt with a low shot, icing the victory for the South China Sharks.
The CIHL will continue play next weekend Saturday, October 18. The first game of the weekend puts the surging Quam Hong Kong Tycoon's against the AsiaXPAT Kowloon Warriors in what is sure to be a fantastic match up between prolific offense and hard nose defense. The second game of the double header sees the first place South China Sharks looking to continue their winning ways against the Galaxy Macau Aces.
This week saw another successful Disneyland Shootout as contestants Alvin, Sam and Joseph all took part in the event. Each contestant had 10 seconds to score as many of the six pucks as they could. The winner, Joseph netted all six pucks sealing his victory and a CIHL replica jersey while the other contestants received an official CIHL game puck.
