On Saturday September 29th The Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization will host its monthly tour of the Fort Harrison introducing local residents to the History of the Historic Fort Harrison and an opportunity to learn of the Church of Scientology’s support of local non-profits through its event venues.
- Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) September 20, 2018 - The tour will start at the Fort Harrison lobby at 1:30pm. Attendees will have the opportunity to see where Scientologists from all over the world stay while participating in Scientology religious ervices, the tea lounge with its array of 70 teas from all over the world, board rooms, and the Hibiscus Restaurant which displays a recognition from the Chaine des Rotisseurs, the oldest food and wine society in the world.
“The Fort Harrison completed construction in late 1926 and has served the community ever since, said Amber Skjelset, host for the tour. “The original builder, Ed Haley wanted a show place for Clearwater and he definitely created that.”
The Fort Harrison was once used to accommodate the World War II troupes and the Philadelphia Phillies for spring training. Other notable guests who’ve stayed at the Fort Harrison include the Rolling Stones who had an appearance at the Jack Russell stadium in 1965 which was cut short due to “hundreds of teen-agers who tried to get to the ‘rock men.’” It was at this time and place where Mick Jagger and Keith Richards penned the chart topping song, (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction.
After the tour, those who want to know more about the Church’s Spiritual Cathedral across the street – the Flag Building can visit the Scientology Information Center and watch “Inside Scientology: Flag,” an episode from the Scientology TV Network. The 1 hour presentation provides a visual tour of the building and an intimate look at the history and significance of the Church of Scientology’s spiritual headquarters. Complimentary tea and scones will be served.
