The Chef's Academy Announces Participation In Texas Pete(R) Vinaigrette And Marinade Recipe Contest
Students At Local Culinary Institute Compete To Have Recipe Bottled And Distributed By Hilldon Foods.
- Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) August 30, 2013 - The Chef's Academy, the Culinary Division of Harrison College, a private sector college serving more than 4,000 students worldwide, has announced it will host a competition in partnership with Texas PeteŽ. The competition will allow the institutions' current culinary students and graduates to compete as they work to create a tasty vinaigrette and marinade recipe. The iconic Texas Pete Hot Sauce must be a key flavor element in each eligible recipe, and the winner will receive the honor of having their recipe bottled and sold across the state. Product labels on the winning recipe will include the winner's name as well as the Texas Pete and The Chef's Academy logos. The live-action competition, which will take place on Friday, September 6, will feature competitors assembling a vinaigrette dressing to accompany a summer salad of their creation, as well as preparing a marinated chicken dish using the same recipe.
In order to enter the competition, The Chef's Academy students and graduates were required to submit a recipe meeting specific guidelines for formatting, ingredients and preparation methods, with the ability of the recipe to be easily reproduced being among the most important criteria. From the recipe submissions, due no later than Aug. 29, a final round of competitors, including six finalists and two alternates, will be announced Tuesday, Sept. 3. The final round of the contest is scheduled to take place Friday, Sept. 6. First, second and third place winners will be announced, with prizes awarded to each by Hilldon Foods.
