The Canadian Cloud Council Announces Second National Conference "The Cloud Accelerator"
Association to host second national cloud conference in Ontario this October.
- (1888PressRelease) July 21, 2012 - Robert Hart, President and CEO of the Canadian Cloud Council, announced that the association will be hosting their second national cloud conference titled "The Cloud Accelerator" on October 15 and 16, 2012 in Ottawa, Ontario. The Canadian Cloud Council hosted a successful inaugural conference in Edmonton, Alberta in March 2012 and is expanding the scope and vision of their second program to include presentations from 35 Canadian cloud thought leaders, a series of cloud workshops and a resolution panel tasked with facilitating a "Canadian Cloud Economic Action Plan".
The theme of the event will be Canadian Cloud technology innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialization - and how its success or failure will play a major impact on Canadian economic development and its global competitive position. The conference will focus on three major key focus areas: The Business of Cloud Computing, Cloud Transformation Best Practices, and The Case for Government Cloud Computing. Sir Terry Matthews, Chairman of Wesley Clover and David Nicholl, CIO of Government of Ontario are opening the event, which is proudly sponsored by Canadian Cloud Council members: Mitel, Wesley Clover and IBM.
"Canada has been one of the slowest nations to adopt cloud computing and has not yet built an effective ecosystem to deliver collaborative value through shared cloud technology services. As a result, the country is quickly losing its global competitive advantage to other nations that have more assertively invested in and commercialized cloud infrastructure and technology," noted Mr. Hart.
"We plan on tackling this critical issue head-on and leaving this conference with a clearly defined action plan related to the acceleration of public sector collaboration, ecosystem development, technology commercialization and ultimately Canadian cloud adoption," concluded Hart.
