The British School hosted ISTA (The International Schools Theatre Association) Festival between 25th to 27th Nov 2011
The British School, known for its high quality education based on the National Curriculum of England, IGCSE and the IB Diploma Programme hosted the ISTA middle school festival for the 3rd time from November 25th to 27th 2011. ISTA is an internationally recognised organisation that runs festivals for young people across the globe.
- (1888PressRelease) December 06, 2011 - New Delhi: The British School, one of India's best school known for its high quality education based on the National Curriculum of England, IGCSE and the IB Diploma Programme hosted the ISTA middle school festival for the third time from November 25th to 27th 2011. The International Schools Theatre Association (ISTA) is an internationally recognised organisation that runs festivals for young people across the globe.
The British School welcomed students from Hong Kong, Dhaka and Delhi to take part in the three day festival hosted at the school. International practitioners from overseas and Delhi were brought together to run a series of ensemble and workshop groups for the young participants over the three days, culminated in a performance on Sunday. It was a wonderful opportunity for young people who enjoy theatre. The festival has been titled "A Bounty of Art" and this was used as a starting point for the young people to explore and develop their ensemble theatre performances. The festival also moved out of the school for some site specific work at the Sanskriti foundation on the Friday afternoon. It is here that the festival used the surrounding sites and cultural influences to enhance their work and ideas. Each ensemble group was taken down a different creative path and it was exciting to see what they have created when they show their work on the Sunday afternoon.
The school also welcomed Tim Mann to the British School for a public performance of his one man show "Space". Tim is a successful actor from the UK who has toured internationally with his show and Tim performed to ISTA participants and audience members on Saturday evening at 7:30 pm in the school auditorium.
Ms. Vanita Uppal, Principal, The British School says, "Hosting our third ISTA festival is indeed a great privilege for the school. ISTA enables students to give expression to their creativity in a non- competitive, stimulating with peers from different schools and regions".
Ms. Sophie Galton, ISTA festival co-ordinator who teaches theatre at The British School adds that "the festival will also move out of the school for some site-specific work at the Sanskriti Foundation on the Friday (25th Nov.) afternoon. It is here that the festival will use the surrounding sites and cultural influences to enhance their work and ideas.
