- Phoenix-Mesa, AZ (1888PressRelease) January 31, 2012 - The Bra Recyclers will be attending the second annual "Great Re-use-athon" on Saturday, February 25th. The local recycling event, hosted by the Arizona Chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers, is designed to help the community recycle, reuse, de-clutter and organize. The Bra Recyclers will be on site collecting and recycling gently new and used bras, which will later be redistributed to women in need across the globe through a network of charity connections, as well as recycled into secondary materials.
As a member of SMART (Secondary Materials and Recycled Textiles Association), The Bra Recyclers are committed to ensuring that bras find a home, either with a woman in need or by being recycled into secondary materials. The Bra Recyclers CEO and Founder, Elaine Birks-Mitchell, touches on the importance of this unique recycling effort by stating, "We are very excited to have the opportunity to help the community clear their drawers of old bras. With thrift stores unable to accept intimate apparel, many people do not realize there is an option for their old bras other than throwing them in the trash. As a result, countless bras end up in the waste stream. By recycling your old bras with The Bra Recyclers, you are able to provide support and encouragement to a woman in need".
In addition to helping reduce waste and promote organization through recycling, "The Great Re-use-athon" is designed to educate the community and support green living throughout the Phoenix-metro area. This event will be hosted at the Town and Country Shopping Center on 20th Street and Camelback on February 25th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and is free of charge.
