The Bra Recyclers Exceed Goals For Bra Recycling Month For Third Straight Year

Phoenix-Mesa, AZ (1888PressRelease) November 15, 2012 - October 2012 marked the third annual Bra Recycling Month. The annual recycling event ties directly to Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which also occurs nationally in October. The Bra Recyclers and partners set out to recycle 15,000 bras during October. They are very proud to announce that they have exceeded their goal, recycling over 16,000 bras and counting.

As the bra tally continues, The Bra Recyclers have much to be thankful for. "We are thankful to each and every one of our partners, every group and retailer that held a bra drive, and every individual recycler who helped make a difference to women in need this October. Each year we set out to recycle more bras than the year before, and each year we exceed our goal because of these generous companies and individuals," The Bra Recyclers CEO Elaine Birks-Mitchell stated. Affinitas, Leading Lady, Soma Intimates, JGS Travel, Bodacious Boutique and Baci Lingerie all sponsored weekly prizes which were raffled off as a thank you to those who recycled each week.

The Bra Recyclers also rallied the support of individuals, groups and radio stations around the country in pursuit of their goal. The Glendale Women's Club in Arizona collected 114 bras from group members and 98.9 in Louisville, Kentucky collected 2,942 bras during their Bras for Bluegrass event. "These are just a few of the groups that helped recycle bras in their local community in October. We are still receiving bras from groups across the country who hosted local drives to bring awareness to this unique cause ," Birks-Mitchell said.

In addition to collecting recycled bras for women in need, The Bra Recyclers also made a monetary donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Souther Arizona for every pound of bras collected during bra recycling month.
