The Bra Recyclers Establish Official Bra Recycling Drop-Off Location In Canada
The Bra Recyclers are announcing a new partnership with a Canadian lingerie company, The Bra Lounge. This new partnership provides recycled bras to women in need globally and provides opportunity for Alberta women to give back to community.
- Phoenix-Mesa, AZ (1888PressRelease) August 09, 2011 - The Bra Lounge will be collecting bras for The Bra Recyclers on a permanent basis, providing an opportunity for local women to make a difference on a global scale.
Canada's first official bra recycling partner decided to join forces with The Bra Recyclers after doing an online search of bra recycling programs. According to The Bra Lounge owner, Sheena Johnson, the demand for a program such as this in her boutique has existed for some time. "Women often ask us if we take bras in good condition that no longer fit. As fine lingerie boutique owners, we appreciate the necessity of great fitting bras. We know the life changing affects, the confidence boost, and the comfort women get when wearing proper, high quality garments," Johnson stated.
For The Bra Recyclers CEO, Elaine Birks-Mitchell, the BRAvolution is about bringing the benefits of bra recycling to as many communities globally as possible. Recycling bras versus throwing them in the trash provides a number of benefits. Used bras can be redistributed to women in need, as well as recycled into secondary materials. For women in need, the gift of a clean, properly fitting bra is monumental. The Bra Recyclers aim to provide as many women in need with the bra they need to feel encouraged, beautiful and confident during their most desperate hours. Touching on the environmental and social benefits of recycling gently used bras, Birks-Mitchell stated, "For some women, having a clean and properly fitted bra to wear is not at the top of the list due to other priorities, such as food, shelter, and safety. We want to do our part to help women in transition by providing a simple encouragement that will lift a woman's spirit and boost her self esteem. In terms of the environmental benefits, bra recycling helps delay the number of textiles entering the waste stream."
The Bra Recyclers just exceeded their 2011 goal of supporting 35 organizations. They are currently supporting 39 organizations across the United States and will continue to expand their outreach as more and more women begin to recycle their bras.
