How to Know Where Your Vehicle is and What it is Doing
(1888PressRelease) January 08, 2008 - When a person calls the police to report their vehicle stolen if they do not have a clue when or where then the chance of the police finding that vehicle is slim indeed. Of course if you see who took your car and call the police right away and tell them what street and what direction chances are the police will find your vehicle.
In America vehicle theft is a big problem. Look at the statistics from any insurance company and you will easily find all sorts of figures on types of cars stolen and how many are actually recovered.
There is a list published by insurance companies of the types of vehicles most stolen. So what if you are the proud owner of one of these vehicles? You will have to take many precautionary measures to prevent your vehicle from being another statistic.
This problem is not limited to just passenger cars, commercial trucks of all types and even heavy construction equipment is also stolen and very often never seen by their original owner again. Sometimes this can be devastating to a business owner, as thieves soon spread the word about easy to get vehicles to other thieves.
One of the newest tools in the battle against thieves is GPS tracking devices. Right now there are two main companies. The first is On-Star that is factory installed in new GM vehicles. So if you have a new GM vehicle your set, but for those who do not there is the Chaperone AVL.
The GPS Vehicle Chaperone is a similar device as the On-Star except there are a few differences in types of service. The big difference is the Chaperone AVL can be accessed from your home computer and you can view real time pictures within two minutes. Of course there a few bells and whistles that can be added to either service, but basically one is for new GM cars and the other is for non-GM and older cars and is self installed.
