The Art Institute Of Michigan To Host Scholarship Spring Gala, April 1
Students will showcase diverse artistic talents during scholarship fundraising event.
- Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) March 19, 2011 - The Art Institute of Michigan will host students, faculty, staff and the public during its first annual Scholarship Spring Gala from 6 - 9 p.m. on Friday, April 1. The event, which will be held in the classroom building located at 28175 Cabot Dr. in Novi, will serve as an annual fundraiser for The Education Foundation Scholarship Fund. The fund will award tuition scholarships each quarter to students enrolled at The Art Institute of Michigan.
"The Art Institute of Michigan's Scholarship Spring Gala will showcase the work of our talented and creative students enrolled in culinary arts, design, fashion and media arts," said Lisa McClain, director of Administrative and Financial Services, Art Institute of Michigan. "The event will raise funds to support our scholarship program providing financial resources to some of our deserving students."
Design and media arts students will display original abstracts inspired by Sol Lewitt. An American artist, Lewitt was linked to various movements including Conceptualism and Minimalism. Student artwork will be mounted on 12" x 12" canvases and will be available for purchase for $30 each with all proceeds benefiting the scholarship program.
The event features a delicious selection of sweet and savory menu items prepared by the Art Institute of Michigan culinary students. It includes pierogis, roasted beef tenderloin, red and golden beat salad, caponata, Pacific salmon, pulled chicken, roasted leg of lamb and assorted homemade charcuterie and sausage. A large assortment of mini pastries, cookies, truffles and petit fours will complete the menu for the evening.
Tickets are $30 per person or $55 per couple and can be purchased in advance or at the door with cash, check or money order. Credit card payments are accepted only via The Education Foundation website at http://www.educationfdn.org/contribute.php.

The Art Institute of Michigan scholarship committee selects students each quarter to receive scholarships based upon academic performance, a written essay, financial need and faculty recommendations.
