The African Fashion Shop That Funds Give A Future Charity
A look at the Lalibella and Give A Future partnership.
- (1888PressRelease) July 22, 2021 - African fashion shop Lalibella, based in London, UK, operates to fund the charity Give A Future. The African fashion store donates all profits to the charity and, as such, has been set up solely to benefit those that the charity helps.
All of the items that Lalibella sells have been designed and produced in Africa. The company prides itself on the ethical production of its products, as well as empowering local African artisan women by providing them with the opportunity to implement their creativity into sellable items.
The company was established by Stephanie Ferrario, Tania Aragona, and Stefania Calice, three women whose lives have been influenced by all that the continent of Africa has to give. Their goal is to share their love of the continent, standing up for feminism, and empowering the women of Africa at the same time. Lalibella’s owners recognize what these women have to offer to the rest of the world and provide them with a platform to showcase their abilities.
Through their products - designed and created by a number of different teams in Africa - Lalibella introduces its customers to a variety of African cultures, including Zulu, Xhosa, Omo, Batonga, Ovambo, Tuareg, and many others.
Across the Lalibella website, customers can buy items such as t-shirts, children’s clothing, kaftans, beachwear, bags, travel accessories, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and rings. The African fashion shop is also home to a variety of home accessories, including ceramics, blankets and throws, baskets, bathroom items, cushions, rugs, furniture, and stylish tableware.
All of the profits generated from the product sales go directly to the charity Give A Future. The charity was set up 10 years ago and the money raised by Lalibella goes towards helping 10,000 women and children in Ethiopia. More specifically, the profits that Lalibella makes goes towards microfinance, training, and education for the women and children of the region.
Together, Lalibella and Give A Future have helped the women and children of Ethiopia in many ways. Creating five group homes for 40 orphans, providing three schools for 450 children with a lunch program, and giving microfinance for 500 women and their families are just some of the ways in which the profits have been distributed to help the people of Ethiopia.
As the partnership between African fashion store Lalibella and Give A Future progresses, the idea is to empower and employ more and more marginalized groups and to ensure high-quality products are brought to customers.
This commitment to creating more opportunities and forging a better life for women and children in the Eastern part of Africa is at the very core of what Lalibella represents. The talent of the designers and artisans that produce Lalibella’s product is evident to see across the website. Their range of products is only broadening, as the partnership between company and employees develops.
