The 2011 Oaxaca International Independent Film & Video Festival presents a retrospective of the works of Canadian-Salvadorian filmmaker Patricia Chica
For its second edition, the Oaxaca International Independent Film and Video Festival is proud to present a retrospective of filmmaker Patricia Chica's independent work including award-winning short films, documentaries and music videos.

The screening will be followed by a bilingual conference (English & Spanish) in which this multiple award-winning filmmaker will share the secrets of her success as a fiction and documentary director.
The topics that will be covered during this presentation could be, but not limited to: 1) the Creative Process; 2) Filmmaking Approach - Documentary vs Fiction; 3) Filmmaking from a Latin female director's perspective. A period of Q & A will follow.
This conference will also be filmed. Excerpts will then be broadcasted online via social media websites: YouTube, FaceBook, Vimeo, Twitter, etc.
While attending the festival, Patricia Chica will also participate in two panels about the situation of independent cinema (on November 15th) and the screenwriting process (on November 16th) at Hub Oaxaca.

Born in El Salvador and based in Montreal, Patricia Chica is a Canadian film and television director who is hell-bent on keeping herself artistically challenged and commercially viable at the same time. Patricia's productions consistently get extensive press coverage and great audience response. In 2007 and 2010, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador gave her a diploma of recognition for her outstanding contribution to the country's cinematic heritage. Winner of over 25 awards, her films (DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY, ROCKABILLY 514, LA PROMESSE) have been presented on television in North America, Europe and Australia, at numerous universities, within niche communities as well as in the international film festival circuit.
