Thailand Issues Consideration of Notification of Cosmetics in Ampoule, Vial or Syringe Form Guideline
Thailand has updated its cosmetic safety and quality standard with a guideline specifying physical characteristics for containers and mandatory supporting documents.
- (1888PressRelease) January 24, 2025 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 001.25, highlighting Thailand’s updated Guideline for Consideration of Notification of Cosmetics in Ampoule, Vial or Syringe Form.
Revised in September 2024 and published in November 2024 by Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration, the guideline aims to ensure the safety and quality of cosmetics, as well as preventing their misuse and abuse, through clear guidance to businesses. Provisions on container characteristics, notification application documents and labeling requirements are included.
Under the guideline, cosmetics in ampoule, vial or syringe form cannot be classified as a medicine or medical device, must not be used with any medical devices or equipment and are not to be intended for use after medical procedures such as laser treatment or microneedle therapy system (MTS).
SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 001.25 includes information on ampoule, vial or syringe form products that are acceptable under the guideline, as well as a useful table listing the packaging forms and their physical characteristics. Supporting information on required documentation is also available.
Stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the original SafeGuardS 001.25 for more details.
