  • (1888PressRelease) June 25, 2012 - Bangkok - An increase to record levels in planned foreign business investment in Thailand so far this year will likely prompt an increase in the number of Thailand work visa requests from foreign nationals, according to leading Thai law company BSA Law.

The expected spike in Thailand work visa applications is likely already straining services of Thai law consulting forms and other professions associated with the Thai visa service, making it imperative that companies making planned business investment in Thailand contract the services needed as early as possible.

"Foreign business investment in Thailand is seeing a sharp increase in activity so far this year, and we expect that trend to continue throughout the rest of 2012," BSA spokesman Apisakde Kongkangwanchoke said. "Logically, this is stepping up the level of demand seen for Thai work visa services. Obtaining a Thai work visa can be a lengthy, fairly bureaucratic process and that is best done through one of the array of Thai law consulting firms. They are, however, getting busier and busier and early application for a Thailand work permit is more important than ever."

Foreign business investment in Thailand soared to an all-time record of 231.1 billion Thai baht in the first quarter of 2012, according to official statistics. That's more than double the number from the same period of last year. Ongoing tax incentives and government road shows throughout Asia and the world to draw more foreign business investment to Thailand are increasing that number daily.

So far this year, the Thai government has sponsored road shows, seminars, and other investment-related activities in China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Dubai, Canada and elsewhere, attracting promises of billions of Thai baht in new investments. The government predicts that it will meet its target of drawing at least 600 billion Thai baht in foreign business investment to Thailand this year.

Besides the expected increase in the requests for Thailand work permits, the flood of foreign investment will likely increase demand for other services related to Thai law, including Thai labor law, Thai business law and tax consulting in Thailand. Companies planning business investment in Thailand are recommended to position themselves as early as possible to get the best advice as possible on the ins and outs and bureaucracy surrounding starting a business in Thailand.

BSA Law has been operating for more than 30 years as a premier provider of advice and support for companies in Thailand, ranging from tax consulting in Thailand, Thai business law counselling, to Thai visa services and more. The company is ideally positioned to help those seeking to start a business in Thailand or expand current operations, or companies just now starting to consider joining the rush of foreign business investment in Thailand.

With a projected gross domestic product growth of 6 percent this year, and the government's predictions of export increases of more than 17 percent compared to exports in 2011, the Thai economy is attracting greater attention. Corporate taxes of between 10 percent and 23 percent provide further incentives for foreign business investment in Thailand.
