- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) October 12, 2011 - D-Cups Saving Teacups, an organization dedicated to saving the lives of animals, is hosting "Tequila and Tiara", a costume party fundraiser for companion animals, which will be held October 29, 2011.
"D Cups Saving Teacups" are a group of women devoted to saving animals through fund raisers, media and humane pet shops. Founder and leader, Kim Sill, is organizing the "Tequila and Tiara" event to raise funds for Valley Veterinary non-profit corporation. The proceeds of every ticket sold to the event will be utilized to spay or neuter one companion animal.
Spaying and neutering helps to reduce companion animal overpopulation. The United States has a surplus of companion animals, to the point where shelters are forced to euthanize or disregard their suffering. The surplus is in the millions; Cats are 45 times as prolific, and dogs 15 times as prolific, as humans. Millions of healthy, adoptable, but homeless pets are euthanized each year. Kim notes, "A million animals are killed in California shelters per year… that's one animal every six seconds." The foreclosure crisis and the wave of natural disasters have added to this crisis.
Those dedicated to improving the plight of homeless and abused pets are often overworked with barely enough time to provide care. Fundraising activities such as "Tequila and Tiara" are needed to help the mission of animal shelters and rescue groups, educate the importance of spay and neuter, and encourage the adoption of rescued animals.
