Tentec Wins Major Order for Specialist Tensioning Tools for the Next Generation of Wind Turbine Connections

(1888PressRelease) February 26, 2015 - West Bromwich, West Midlands - Tentec Ltd, a world-leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of bolt tightening equipment to the wind turbine industry is pleased to announce it has secured an order to supply specialist tensioning tools for the prestigious Eon Humber Gateway Project.

The Eon Humber Gateway Project is an offshore windfarm installation comprising 73 3MW turbines and is currently under construction. Tentec won the order against some stiff opposition form other well-known tooling providers, but it was Tentec's unique and practical solution that won the contract.

The specialist tensioning tools were designed and manufactured to bolt together the large flanges that connect the Monopile to the Transition Piece. With 72 bolts per flange and each bolt having a diameter of 72mm, this is one of the first connections of its kind in the offshore wind energy industry. However, it is now widely acknowledged as the future of turbine connections and therefore needed a new and efficient tensioning solution. Tentec's tools allow for the simultaneous tightening of 50% of the bolts in a single operation, so boosting productivity
