  • Knoxville, TN (1888PressRelease) October 11, 2008 - Centennial Bluff, East Tennessee’s first 55+ active lifestyle community will open its doors to the public during the “clubhouse construction celebration” featuring a hospitality tent with seating, a barbeque, live band and tours of the 12,000 SF Amenity Clubhouse on October 11th from 11-4pm and October 12th from 12-4pm. The tours commence from the sales center on Edgemoor Road.

More information about the new clubhouse is available at http://www.centennialbluff.com/clubhouse.htm

During a groundbreaking on Thursday September 25th, Oak Ridge city officials gathered with prospective homeowners, the media and the developers for the first look at the new amenity clubhouse currently under construction.

“This is a public open house at the construction site, so anyone who stops by will see first- hand the great progress we’re making on the clubhouse, which is now totally under roof with the interior in-progress. There are an ever-growing number of people who are seeking active retirement in an economic, fun place – and Centennial Bluff is all that and more,” says Bruce Matzel, CEO of the project. He continues, “we made a commitment at the start of the community, to first build the amenity clubhouse so our new owners will enjoy their amenities from the day they take occupancy. We’re delivering on our promise with a great facility. Now, the people of Oak Ridge and Knoxville will be able to see, touch and get a feel for the clubhouse design.”

The Centennial amenity clubhouse, aka “The Lodge” will offer a wide variety of amenities including state of the art fitness center, full service spa, billiard room, his & hers card rooms, arts and creative studio, conversation lobby, teaching kitchen, business/conference center, banquet dining & adjacent courtyard with combined capacity to service 200, outdoor heated pool and hot tub, outdoor pavilion with fireplace, covered barbeque area, pet-play park and landscaped conversation nooks. The community is in convenient walking distance to Centennial Golf Course and directly across from the entrance of the four mile Melton Lake Greenway biking/walking path.

“The clubhouse, plus our six models are slated for opening in spring of 2009”, said Matzel. “Sales are stronger than we imagined, but then again Centennial offers a great value, which is very important to people planning to retire.”

There were many future owners onsite to preview the progress of the community clubhouse, including Dave and Pat Coffey of Lenoir City who are enthusiastically looking forward to moving to Centennial Bluff, "We retired to Lenoir City," Dave said. "And we keep retiring -- and working," Pat added. Dave: "Now we're retiring back in Oak Ridge. Centennial Bluff is the neatest one of these communities around. The resort lifestyle for those of us over 55 is the right style, and Centennial Bluff is in the right place. The location is convenient to everything. It's outside the Knoxville traffic hassle but close to all the Knoxville amenities."

Oak Ridge Mayor Tom Beehan spoke at the groundbreaking, adding the city’s perspective about the community, "I want to give credit to the team that is putting this wonderful project in our town. They are doing what they said they would do, and they are bringing a wonderful project and a great spirit to our town. We need to give credit to the people with vision. This development is important to the future development and growth of our city.”

Ray Stang, principal in the development partner firm Brunning and Stang further recognized the advantage of the city’s support enabling the construction progress, "Without a doubt, part of the team that has made this success possible is the City of Oak Ridge. They've been incredibly cooperative -- they've even had people out here on Saturday if we needed them. That's above and beyond what I've come to expect."

The 400 residence community offers six low maintenance home designs from 1,103SF to 2.162SF, ranging from one- to three-bedrooms priced from $209,950 to mid-$300,000s. Residences will have views of the surrounding mountains, Melton Hill Lake or the Centennial Golf Course. One resident owner must be age 55 or better with no resident children under the age of 19.

The sales center in Oak Ridge off the Pellissippi Parkway’s Edgemoor exit is open with hours seven days a week.
