Telluride Bluegrass Festival Award Winners Bluebilly Grit Set to Perform
Fresh from the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Bluebilly Grit is set to perform a homecoming in Clarkesville Ga. Combining traditional Bluegrass music with a touch of Rockabilly and Americana this band is set for national recognition.
- Athens-Clarke County, GA (1888PressRelease) July 03, 2013 - BlueBilly Grit just recently returned back to Georgia from playing the main stage in front of 10,000 diehard bluegrass fans at Telluride Bluegrass festival in Telluride Colorado. It has been a whirlwind of a year for the local (Maysville & Dahlonega) bluegrass band since gaining national notoriety as the 2012 winner of the now 40 year old festival. They have played to packed houses and festivals throughout the south including The 1st Annual North Georgia
Bluegrass Jam at the Habersham Mill Complex, Clarkesville GA., The Melting Point Athens Ga. and The Crimson Moon in Dahlonega GA to name a few. BlueBilly grit is considered my most a traditional blue grass band with a large Americana influence. Their modern style, which blends these two genres of music, has a way of appealing to the newer generation of the grassroots movement and to those that have a love for the more traditional sound.
Their unrivaled three part harmony, traditional instrumentation, and the lead vocals of their soulful female singer are what make this magical blend work. The group hooked up with Life Springs Studios to work on a third album, "BlueBilly Grit Live at The Melting Point" and a live video performance, which has just been released. Amidst much uncertainty in the musical world of today, BlueBilly Grit seems to be holding their course, and humbly admits that a source greater than themselves appears to be calling the shots. BlueBilly Grit takes pride in the fact that they're not just another "hot lick, blazing solo" bluegrass band. It's all about the song with this group, and rightly so because they have something to say!
