TekTrak's Mobile App Helps Family in Midst of Japan's Earthquake Tragedy

Utilizing the Assisted GPS hardware within smartphones, TekTrak's mobile security app allowed the family to track their daughter's whereabouts through her smartphone. When K.S. from Tokyo could not reach his daughter when the phone network was overloaded, K.S. and his wife immediately went onto TekTrak's website to see their daughter's location through its Location History feature. Once they saw the timestamps in the location history they knew she was okay as they could see their daughter was moving after the earthquake hit. Then, they used the Remote Location Tracking feature so that they could continue to track her progress on her long journey home.
"My daughter was at her school and normally it takes an hour for her school bus to reach home in Tokyo. But that day her school bus took seven hours to reach home," said KS "We were very anxious, but with TekTrak we felt good knowing that she was making slow but sure progress to get home."

And if you don't recognize the location, or don't think you can retrieve the device from that location, users will soon be able to send remote messages to the phone in the hope the person who may have the phone will respond. TekTrak also provides remote security features to protect private information, such as remote lock and/or data wipe capabilities that you can use if you think you can't get your phone back.
TekTrak offers two versions of the application: TekTrak Pro, which became a Top 20 paid utility app just hours after launching on the App Store, and TekTrak, a free app which allows all users with iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 to use TekTrak features twice. Additionally, for every friend who downloads TekTrak the referrer gets another free use of the app.
TekTrak is currently developing more advanced features and functionality that will be available in future updates. For example, the company will be releasing an Android version of the app within the next few weeks as well as a version for use on iPads and other tablet devices later this year.
