Jack Skuller follows up his acclaimed debut single with a rockin' Johnny Cash song.
Rising teen artist Jack Skuller's tribal rockabilly version of the Johnny Cash classic produced by punk legend Daniel Rey
New York, NY (1888PressRelease) January 11, 2011 - 14 year old singer/songwriter Jack Skuller has rush released a cover of Johnny Cash's "Get Rhythm" while finishing up five original new songs in the studio with producer/guitarist Daniel Rey. For Skuller's latest recordings, Daniel Rey (producer of the Ramones, Ronnie Spector and the Misfits) assembled an all-star session with Jeremy Chatzky on bass, Denny McDermott on drums and Tricia Scotti on backing vocals.
Describing the new single, Skuller says he "went in to the studio with a punk rockabilly feel. Drummer Denny McDermott suggested an alternate beat for "Get Rhythm" and the vibe he created felt so right we had to keep it. Now it's kind of tribal rockabilly."
Johnny Cash wrote the rockabilly tune "Get Rhythm" in 1956 and released it as the B-side to his first number one hit "I Walk The Line."
The video for "Get Rhythm" is the directorial debut of Canadian export Peter "Beckz" Frelik. Frelik says his intention was simple, adding "by continuing to emulate Jack Skuller's indelible homage to classic blues. It was my goal to capture this through Jack's clothes, attitude and the vintage vibe of the set decor." Frelik has served as editor on major motion pictures such as 20th Century Fox's Jumper and Summit Entertainment's Fair Game.
Skuller's underground hit "Love Is A Drum" received raves in the New York Post, the New York Press, the Star Ledger, numerous music blogs and the Examiner which called it the "best single released by anyone (in 2010)." Skuller was invited to perform the song live on Fox TV's Good Day New York marking his TV debut in 2010.
Jack Skuller turns 15 on January 26, 2011. The digital single "Get Rhythm" is available now on iTunes. For more information, visit http://www.jackskuller.com
